PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO
In the course of my career as a journalist, proof of work included published news articles, feature stories, documentaries, and fact-check stories. In over 16 years as broadcast journalist, stories produced have been aired over NHK World, the English channel of Japan's lone public tv network Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK) or Japan Broadcasting Corp. Other stories have been published by VERA Files, “a non-stock, non-profit independent media organization in the Philippines. It is published by veteran Filipino journalists taking a deeper look into current Philippine issues. Vera is Latin for “true.” As fact checking editor for VERA Files, I peer-review and and top edit stories that debunk misinformation, for the Third-Party Fact Checking Partnership Program under the Facebook Journalism Project. I also oversee the implementation of the social media strategy of VERA Files, that I developed, and which I do remotely. In leading the social media audience development and engagement strategy of VERA Files, we developed the first ever Misinformation Tip Line on Viber in Asia-Pacific, where community members and subscribers can submit leads to be fact-checked.

As digital and social media marketing specialist, I developed and implemented marketing campaigns for international clients. I did a lot of research and copywriting, created and produced content for web and social media platforms as part of customer acquisition and customer experience strategies. I managed social media channels, identified influencers and partners and coordinated the execution of influence marketing strategies. Performed social media and web analytics and assisted in Search Engine Optimization-related tasks. Marketing-related blogs I wrote have been published by Sensei Marketing, “a niche agency servicing medium to large businesses across North America through the design and management of unique customer acquisition and customer experience programs that measurably move prospects and customers along the customer life cycle.”

In my role as PR/Communications manager for LifeWIRE Corp., I provided advise on digital marketing and sales promotion strategies, developed and implemented digital and print media advertising campaigns and social media content. I conduct research, gather and prepare communication materials, develop and implement communication strategies for external and internal audiences. I analyze data and assist in producing reports and manage the preparations of presentations, graphic design, websites, and landing pages. I create and manage digital and print media materials such as brochures, banners, newsletters, video post-production. I do research and prepare articles, press releases, blog posts, social media posts, as well as edit and proofread various text material for e-media use. In my short stint as Communications and Community Relations Coordinator for Glencore Kidd Operations, I was in-charge of maintaining all communications with regards to any crisis, issues management and media relations. Specifically, I crafted all pandemic related updates, advisories, memos, re-opening plans as directed by the management team. I engaged with external stakeholders, and assess, evaluate requests for sponsorships, event partnerships, donations, and manage the budget and request tracking of the Community Partnership Program. I plan events for employee engagement and execute them. I was the point-person communicating with cross functional teams to create content and publish a bi-weekly and quarterly newsletter. I also developed communication materials such as presentations, media releases, speeches, web and social media content as well as tracking, monitoring and reporting media and community feedback.

In my academic work for my post-grad program on Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Seneca College, course requirements include submission of various reports, communication materials, speech-writing, blog-writing, analyzing PR and communications strategies and proposing PR campaigns or communication plans.
